Mom finished her second week of radiation today.  Since she was starting to lose her hair, she decided it was time to go buy some fun hats.

Mom saw a woman at Huntsman who was wearing a hat that Mom really liked, so she asked her where she could get a hat like that.  The woman replied, "Burlington Coat Factory".  So that's where we went!

Mom had a fun time trying on lots of different hats.  And she found the one she really wanted, in addition to several others that were just really fun!  Mom can pull off many different hats.

I found a silver sequined hat and Mom thought that would be fun to wear so she got it.  Then Lizzy found a gold sequined hat and didn't want to be left out of the fun, so Mom got Lizzy the gold one so they can wear them together.  It was a fun trip!
After Burlington Coat Factory, Grandma & Grandpa decided to take the kids to Toys R Us for a new toy.  My kids were in HEAVEN!  They had so much fun running from isle to isle trying to pick out perfect toy.  The kids were given a budget to stay within and they put a lot of thought into what they wanted.

One child found the toy he wanted and quickly put it into the cart.  Later he saw something else that caught his attention and he really wanted it.  It was twice his budget.  He quickly started thinking of ways he could get the more expensive toy.  He suggested that he combine his money with his brothers money so they wouldn't really go over budget, promising they would share the toy.

Grandma and Grandpa expressed their concern that instead of the promised sharing of the toy, the boys would fight over it (and they would!).  I told Grandma and Grandpa that the boys needed to stick to the original plan of the established budget.  The one child was a little disappointed and went back to the toy he originally chose.

Once we all got home the kids started playing with their new treasures.  The child that wanted the more expensive toy soon realized that the toy he brought home was actually the coolest toy he has ever had!  He has said repeatedly how much he loves this toy and that he is so glad that we didn't let him get the more expensive one.  It was a great lessen for him to learn that bigger isn't always better, and to be happy and grateful for what you have.  I think that it was even better that Grandma and Grandpa were part of teaching that lesson.
